New innovations rooted in an 85 year legacy...

TurtleEnergy's parent company, Turtle & Hughes was founded by Marion Berry Turtle and William Hughes in 1923. They began as an electrical equipment distributor on Canal Street in New York City with a modest staff of 10. Today they are a 600 person, fourth generation, family owned business and among the top 50 largest electrical distributorships in the United States. Its president, Suzanne Turtle Millard, has been named one of the top 50 woman business owners in the country.

The company is also proud of its' own efforts in supplier diversity. The Turtle & Hughes Supplier Diversity Program actively seeks procurement opportunities for minority and woman owned businesses. In 1975, T&H established an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), resulting in 225 employee shareholders owning 32.5% of the company's stock today. Currently, 60% of the common stock is owned by women, and the company is certified as a women-owned business enterprise (WBE).

Over the years, Turtle & Hughes has seen enormous success diversifying its' products and services with the development of two new divisions: Turtle & Hughes Integrated Supply (THIS) and TurtleEnergy.

TurtleEnergy was created in 2003 as the company sought to continue its diversification which included the renewable energy market. As a result, TurtleEnergy has become a leading edge company with $20M worth of system experience in their portfolio. Since its inception, TurtleEnergy has evolved to leverage over 50 years of combined experience in the design, engineering, and implementation of clean energy systems. TurtleEnergy is also pursuing the development of wind-power and hydrogen-cell energy sources for sites that seek total energy independence.
