Compared to other energy consumers, large, power hungry industrial facilities benefit most from a TurtleEnergy system. A thorough energy audit followed by a lighting system and controls retrofit is the one-two punch value add that makes the most out of a renewable energy installation.
Ask us about how TurtleEnergy can significantly reduce your industrial energy costs with a three-pronged relighting, re-roofing, and renewable energy generation program for your facility. Our group of companies buy all necessary lighting commodities in high volume (over $20M pa). We're able to source your conservation systems and your generation systems at lower costs with higher service levels than a typical wholesale purchase. TurtleEnergy fuses system design to wholesale horsepower.
Q:
- After the relatively short payback period, how much energy will a PV array produce for an industrial entity?
- For a 250kw PV system, how much CO2 would you prevent from being released into the atmosphere?
- How do I determine the energy collection potential of my site?
- Will TurtleEnergy assist with demand-side management of our industrial facility?
A:
1. Reliably, for every KW (DC) of solar energy installed it will produce between 30 and 50 mW hrs of electricity (AC) over the 30 year lifespan of the system. With utility rates nationwide increasing, TE conservatively estimates a 5%/yr rate increase. From a savings perspective, a TE customer using a 250kw PV system* will save $30,000 in the first year in avoided energy costs. After the relatively short 5 year payback period, the same customer will save even more. Assuming a conservative 5% energy cost increase, the user will save $34,000 in year 6. By year 13, the cumulative savings will be $450,000 of avoided energy costs. By year 30, towards the end of the system's lifespan, cumulative energy savings would reach $1,240,000**.
*In the NE United States. Incentives, energy costs, and available sunlight will vary from state to state.
**Does not include income from carbon trading credits available to customers that buy class-1 energy systems from TurtleEnergy.
2. First year: 235 tons. By year 13: 2,820 tons. By the end of the system's useful life at year 30, 7,000 tons of emissions by would be prevented.
3. Consulting with a TurtleEnergy representative is the best way to examine your unique potential for renewable energy generation. TurtleEnergy applies thorough and detailed energy audits to a customer's unique situation. However, for a quick calculation multiply available square footage of your roof or acreage by 10 watts per square foot for an estimate of DC power potential. To quickly calculate a performance for your area, see this calculation page.
4. Yes, across the board. TE will conduct a full energy audit of your industrial facility by retrofitting new lighting and day-lighting which will enable daylight harvesting. Self dimming controls and motion detectors will minimize demand in your building. TurtleEnergy together with Turtle & Hughes, its parent company, will utilize its large scale buying power of lighting commodities to replace your old, inefficient lighting systems.
